I'm pretty sure my 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback has the factory struts on it with nearly 220k miles, so I'm looking to replace them. The standard OE-grade replacement appears to be KYB GR-2s, but I'm seeing a number of folks using SenSen struts instead. From what I'm reading they seem to be comparable to the KYBs, and they cost about 2/3rds as much - RockAuto has $165 for a set of four SenSens vs $265 for KYBs.

I put them on my wife's car about a thousand mile ago. Sadly, we don't drive it very much, so I can't really give you a lot of feedback, but they appear to have decent support from the forums. You won't be the first to use them. Check on Ebay as well.

I very much disliked my GR-2s on a different platform.

I put them in my mazda. They didn't come with bump stops, but they seemed to work well. Don't know about longevity since I sold the mazda about 2 months later.

In all honesty, that was my thought, too, when I was reading the various Subaru forum posts recommending the GR-2s - when did GR-2s become good enough to recommend?

Technically I had the "Excel-G" which is just a crappy GR-2 rebranded so people don't realize it's the same old junk. I just had to throw something on the car to get it inspected, but I wish I had spent the money up front for the high quality stuff.
